The Diner Alo Hijra Songho (DAHS), founded in December 2007 in Rajshahi, is a non-profit, non-political organization dedicated to the welfare and empowerment of the Hijra (transgender) community. Despite government recognition, Hijras in Bangladesh remain socially excluded, facing stigma, discrimination, and denial of basic rights. DAHS works to address these challenges through advocacy, leadership training, organizational capacity building, and livelihood support. Over the years, it has implemented multiple projects with national and international partners, focusing on rights promotion, community inclusion, and sustainability. Currently, DAHS runs a four-year Leadership and Empowerment project supported by MJF.
To empower the Hijra community by promoting education, leadership, organizational capacity, and livelihood opportunities, while advocating for equal rights and social inclusion.
A society where Hijras live with dignity, free from stigma and discrimination, enjoying equal opportunities, rights, and recognition as valued members of the community.
